3 Dead after 4 Tornadoes ripped through Ottawa

3 person is dead after four tornadoes were reported near Ottawa, Ill., the Ottawa Fire Department said. The entire Chicago area is under a Tornado Watch until 10 p.m. Strong to severe storms have produced large hail, high winds and heavy damage across the area Tuesday evening.

Six people have been taken to Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa for storm-related injuries; four in fair condition, one in serious condition and one in critical condition. Further details were not available.

Multiple tornadoes were reported on the ground beginning shortly after 4 p.m.

The first was reported in La Salle County near Standard, Ill., southwest of Ottawa, shortly after 4:30 p.m. A second tornado was spotted near Ottawa shortly after. A third tornado was reported in Marseilles, Ill., at 5:06 p.m. near North 30th Road and East 25th Road. A fourth tornado was reported on the ground near Morris, Ill., shortly before 5:30 p.m.
