March 1, 2014 – SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK
The rain returned to Southern California with a vengeance! Scattered thunderstorms erupted all over Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, extreme southwestern San Bernardino, and extreme western Riverside Counties on Sunday. A tornado warning was issued for Walnut, CA due to a severe thunderstorm that produced large hail. More thunderstorms erupted in the morning hours especially West Los Angeles which caused heavy rain, strong winds, and small hail. These storms also caused flooding. Approximate 3:45 PM, a large line of strong thunderstorms welled up that caused flooding and hail. The storms weaken as they made their way through the basin but still caused heavy rainfall enough to cause flooding in a short amount of time. The skies cleared after 6 PM for most of the area.
