Initial thoughts on the weekend winter storm with possible impacts across the mid-Atlantic US from Friday, January 22 through Sunday, January 24.
A powerful east coast winter storm is modeled with strong agreement. Heavy snow (possible mixing along coast/SE of I-95), high winds, and coastal flooding is likely between Friday night and Sunday morning.
The upper level pattern looks beautiful with a cut-off low phase in the south central US and track between Delmarva and Outer Banks. That track will determine snow/rain line and will not be confident until Wednesday night when land sampling is underway.
Regardless, a big east coast winter storm is coming. Thanks and be safe! JC
